what do i put in the water when i boil my snares

You add baking soda. If you are doing multiple batches of snares, you will have to add some more soda each time. It will make a mess, it 'fizzes' when you add it to boiling water, so go slow. That will make your snares dull and remove any oil and shine on them. Then they are ready to use.
